Responsibilities/Job Duties:
- Completes tasks as assigned by supervisor or lead welder in a timely manner.
- Intermediate understanding of fabrication requirements and company expectations related to complete package assembly.
- Follow instructions from supervisors for project changes or job duties.
- Fabricate or prepare parts as needed by grinding, cutting, drilling, tacking or welding.
- Fit-up sub-assembly parts and weld out in standard time frame.
- Produce clean welds with minimal grinding or buffing.
- Keep the work area clean and put tools away when finished with them.
- Accurately fills out timecards and jobs assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
(If a 6G test is passed in a particular process then the 1G is not necessary.)
- Must have passed the 1G MIG weld test.
- Work towards passing 1G TIG weld test.
- Must have passed 6G MIG welding test.
- Must demonstrate advanced level fit-up ability as evaluated by supervisor or QC.
- Must understand shop book drawings at advanced level.
- No weld leaks in 90 consecutive days.
- Advanced understanding of welding machine settings and match to WPS.
- Welds must be visually acceptable and mostly clean prior to any grinding or buffing.
- Intermediate understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
- Using and reading levels, tape measures and other measurement devices accurately.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a least 1-year formal apprenticeship/training program or,
- Completion of at least 2-year welding program from accredited entity (can sub 2yrs related experience for 1 year education not to count towards years of experience requirement).
- At least 4 years experience in a related field with no more than 1-year absence from welding activities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
