Trade Team is seeking skilled Welder/Fitters to join our shipbuilding projects based in Marinette, Wisconsin. This contract position offers a long-term opportunity to work on fabricating and fitting metal structural parts essential to ship hull assembly. We are looking for dedicated professionals with proven welding and fitting expertise and a commitment to safety and quality.

Primary Function:

Fabricate, lay out, and fit metal structural components such as plates, bulkheads, and frames within ship hulls. Use blueprints, templates, and hand tools to ensure accurate placement and secure assembly through welding or riveting.

Tools and Equipment Used:

• Welding machines (FCAW, SMAW, GMAW)

• Hand tools (scribes, grinders, measuring devices)

• Layout tools and templates

Materials Handled:

• Steel plates, bulkheads, frames, braces

• Welding consumables and filler materials

• Blueprints, welding procedure documentation

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately lay out metal structural parts according to blueprints or templates

• Fabricate and brace parts within the hull for welding or riveting

• Perform FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW fillet welds on steel (3F & 4F positions)

• Pass welding qualification tests as required

• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with all safety regulations

• Use hand tools and measuring instruments effectively to ensure precise fabrication

• Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members

• Participate in pre-employment physical and drug testing (cannabis prohibited)

Requirements:

• Proven welding and fitting experience in shipbuilding or related heavy fabrication

• Ability to pass welding tests: FCAW and SMAW fillet welds (3F & 4F steel)

• Must possess own hand tools

• Willingness to work on a long-term, 1-year contract basis

• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening

• Ability to work indoors in a shipyard environment

• Must comply with company safety and quality policies

Pay & Benefits:

• $28.00 per hour for local applicants

• $28.00 per hour plus $150 daily per diem for non-local applicants

• $500 travel bonus

• Assistance with hotel expenses for the first two weeks (non-local)

• Weekly pay

• Health insurance including vision and dental coverage

• Long-term contract opportunity (1 year)
