Bechtel is currently hiring experienced Combination Welders – Journey Level to support our Rio Grande LNG project in Brownsville, TX. This critical role involves executing high-quality welding work on complex liquefied natural gas (LNG) construction projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the structural integrity and operational safety of industrial infrastructure while ensuring compliance with strict safety and quality standards.

Primary Function:

The primary function of this position is to perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) on piping and structural components. This role involves precise welding, component alignment, and quality control within a heavy industrial environment.

Tools and Equipment Used:

• SMAW and GTAW welding equipment

• Grinders, buffers, and chipping hammers

• Straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and measuring rules

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and rigging tools

• Pipe-fit-up and alignment aids

Materials Handled:

• Carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping

• Structural steel components

• Weld rods, filler metals, and shielding gases

• Cleaning and preparation consumables

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, welding procedures, and technical drawings

• Perform precision welding using SMAW and GTAW techniques

• Verify proper alignment of components before and during welding

• Use grinders, files, and other tools to prepare materials and clean welds

• Tack weld and secure components prior to final welding

• Conduct visual inspections to verify weld integrity and adherence to codes

• Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean, hazard-free worksite

• Participate in pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing as required

• Maintain compliance with all Bechtel quality and safety standards
