

NAK Kiln Services is seeking a skilled Welder with Ironworker experience for a travelling, field-based role supporting kiln installation and repair projects across the United States. This role is essential to maintaining and improving equipment for clients in cement, paper, and chemical processing industries. It involves hands-on mechanical, welding, and rigging work under varied environmental conditions.
Primary Function:
The primary function of this role is to install, maintain, and repair industrial rotary kilns and associated machinery. This includes precise welding tasks, alignment of components, and assisting in crane and rigging operations. The position involves full-time travel and demands high levels of safety awareness and technical skill.
Tools and Equipment Used:

FCAW (dual shield) and SMAW (stick) welding machines

Carbon arc gouging tools

Hoists, pulleys, jacks, come-a-longs

Forklifts, manlifts

Hand tools (wrenches, grinders, hammers)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Materials Handled:

Structural steel and industrial components

Bearings, gears, and drive units

Steel pipe and plate for welding

Rigging materials and support structures
Key Responsibilities:
-
Weld and join steel using FCAW and SMAW methods to AWS D1.1 standards

Use oxy/acetylene torch and carbon arc gouging for cutting and material prep

Fit bearings, align gears and tires, install and dismantle industrial machinery

Operate rigging tools and act as signal person during crane operations

Move heavy materials using forklifts and manlifts
-
Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical diagrams
-
Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures

Work in outdoor, high-noise, and potentially extreme weather conditions

Travel to job sites across the U.S. for extended periods (100% travel)

Additional Requirements:

High school diploma or GED preferred

Minimum of six months related industrial experience

Valid U.S. driver's license (required)

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights

Ability to travel for extended periods, with frequent overnight stays
