

Stimson Lumber Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Millwright to join our team in Tillamook, Oregon. This master-level role is ideal for a natural leader, teacher, and problem solver with deep technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues. As a senior team member, you will play a vital role in training and mentoring others, contributing to the continuous improvement of our maintenance team and plant operations.
Primary Function:
Provide advanced mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support to ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency. Lead by example in fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration. Train and mentor less experienced Millwrights and apprentices to develop a stronger, more capable maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate, analyze, and improve quality, safety, and production processes.

Provide daily shift maintenance, troubleshooting, and reporting for machine centers.

Implement preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
-
Maintain accurate documentation for maintenance activities and parts inventory.
-
Proactively communicate with departments to ensure smooth equipment operation.
-
Partner with machine operators to improve machinery efficiency.
-
Lead safety initiatives and educate teams on evolving safety practices.
-
Mentor and train less experienced Millwrights and apprentices.
-
Evaluate equipment efficiency, recommend upgrades, and implement improvements.

Maintain, install, repair, improve, and troubleshoot all plant machinery and systems.
Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience (sawmill experience preferred).

Proficient in mechanical systems including conveyors, saws, kilns, and de-barkers.

Skilled in welding and fabrication; ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints.

Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
-
Familiarity with basic electrical systems and safety protocols.
-
Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to minimize downtime.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities; team-oriented and self-motivated.

Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs., climbing stairs, and working in varying conditions.

Valid driver’s license required.
Benefits:

Competitive Pay: Starting at $55.00/hour, with swing shift differential and commute pay totaling approximately $58.50/hour. Overtime at $84.75/hour.

Shift Differential: $1.50/hour for swing shift.

Commute Pay: $350/month fringe benefit (equivalent to $2/hour for full-time employees).
