

Trade Team is seeking experienced Shipyard/Commercial Welders for long-term projects in Hampton Roads, VA. This role is essential to supporting shipbuilding and repair operations, ensuring high-quality welds that meet industry standards. Welders will contribute directly to mission-critical work while maintaining safety and efficiency on-site.
Primary Function:
The primary role of the Welder is to perform high-quality welding in shipyard or commercial environments using various techniques and materials. The position ensures structural integrity and precision in welding activities, supporting both new construction and repair projects.
Tools and Equipment Used:

Welding machines (MIG, TIG, Stick)

Grinders, torches, and cutting tools

Measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers, squares)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Lifting and hoisting equipment

Industrial hand and power tools
Materials Handled:

Steel plates and structural components
-
Pipe and metal tubing

Welding consumables (electrodes, filler materials)

Blueprints, welding diagrams, and technical drawings
Key Responsibilities:

Perform welding duties using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW techniques.

Interpret blueprints and welding diagrams to execute accurate welds.

Fit and weld structural components as per shipyard/commercial specifications.
-
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.

Lift, position, and secure materials and workpieces up to 50 lbs. or more.

Perform quality inspections to ensure welds meet required standards.
-
Maintain and clean welding equipment and tools.
-
Adhere to OSHA 10 Hour Maritime safety protocols.
-
Work collaboratively with fitters, supervisors, and other trade professionals.

Available for 1st or 2nd shift, working 10–12 hours daily, 50–60 hours per week.

Non-Local Welders: $21/hr + $100.00 daily per diem

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years’ welding experience in shipyard or commercial settings
-
Must be a U.S. Citizen
-
Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more on a continuous basis
-
Must pass a drug screening
-
Reliable transportation
-
OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Certification (Required)
