

Stimson Lumber Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Millwright III to join our team in Tillamook, Oregon. This master-level role is ideal for a natural leader, teacher, and problem solver with strong technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues. You will play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency of our mill operations and mentoring less experienced Millwrights to build a stronger, more capable maintenance team.
Primary Function:
Provide advanced mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support to ensure optimal plant performance and equipment reliability. Lead by example in fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Compensation:

Base Pay: $55.00 per hour (starting)

Swing Shift Differential: Additional $1.50 per hour

Commute Pay: $350/month fringe benefit (equivalent to $2/hour)

Overtime Pay: $84.75 per hour (time and a half)

Bonus Eligible: Based on company and location profitability
Tools and Equipment Used:

Welding and fabrication tools

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components

Conveyor systems, saws, kilns, de-barkers, and other sawmill equipment

Alignment tools and precision measuring instruments
Materials Handled:

Mechanical equipment components and assemblies

Lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and filters

Conveyor belts, bearings, gears, and saw components

Safety equipment and protective gear
Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and improve quality, safety, and production processes.

Provide daily shift maintenance and troubleshooting for machinery.

Implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs.
-
Maintain accurate documentation and inventory records.
-
Communicate proactively with all departments for smooth operations.

Partner with machine operators to improve equipment efficiency.

Lead safety initiatives and educate staff on maintenance best practices.

Identify and recommend equipment upgrades or process improvements.

Maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot all plant equipment and systems.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 5 years industrial equipment maintenance experience (sawmill preferred).

Proficient in mechanical systems, including sawmill equipment.

Skilled in welding and fabrication techniques.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
-
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems; basic understanding of electrical systems.

Effective communication skills and a collaborative team player.

Adherence to strict safety protocols; OSHA and industry compliance knowledge.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, and work in varying environmental conditions.

Valid driver’s license required.
