Sumter Utilities, Inc. (a Quanta Services company) is seeking experienced A Linemen to join our Overhead Crew. The successful candidate will have experience as part of a construction crew and hold a valid Class A CDL. Primary Function:

The A Lineman will be responsible for performing overhead electrical line work, including climbing, rigging, and lifting. The role involves leading a crew in various construction activities such as line installation, maintenance, and repair while adhering to strict safety protocols. The A Lineman will work with energized lines, identify primary and secondary voltages, and ensure proper grounding and PPE usage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform physical tasks such as climbing, rigging, lifting, and rescue operations.

• Install, maintain, and repair energized and de-energized power lines.

• Read and understand blueprints and job prints to plan and execute work.

• Lead crew in assembly and erection of structures, including working at heights.

• Conduct hot line work and sagging operations for electrical conductors.

• Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other relevant machinery.

• Lead safety meetings, including Job Task Safety Analysis and tailgate briefings.

• Ensure the proper use of mechanical jumpers, grounding procedures, and PPE.

• Perform basic bucket rescue/escape procedures.

• Collaborate with team members and customers in a professional and positive manner.

• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including flag and tag procedures.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid Class A CDL.

• Proven experience working as part of a construction crew, with a focus on overhead line work.

• Ability to perform rigorous physical labor, including climbing poles, rigging, and heavy lifting.

• Proficient in hot line work, identifying voltages, and performing grounding procedures.

• Ability to lead a crew, execute safe work practices, and ensure team safety.
